ELA, Grades K-2 – Reading and literacy standards about understanding key details in a text; being able to identify settings, characters, details; understanding the relationship between a text and related illustrations; ability to engage in group readings with purpose and understanding. When used with worksheets, ability to use drawing, writing to respond to text. Depending on grade, ability to read text with support, phonological awareness, ability to express thoughts, feelings and opinions in spoken and written form.

ELA, Grades 3-5 – Ability to ask and answer questions about a text in spoken or written form, ability to understand rhyme, rhythm and meaning in a poem, understanding how images and illustrations relate to text. When used in conjunction with worksheets, ability to read and comprehend text, ability to respond in written or spoken form to questions about text, ability to form opinion about a text.
