For over two decades, Josie Bailey has been delighting audiences at schools and libraries around all over Georgia and at festivals and museums, including the High Museum of Atlanta, the Wren’s Nest and the Storytelling Festival in Mableton, Georgia.

Josie uses an engaging and interactive approach that draws her listeners into a world of imagination, teaches the love of language and literature and shows the power of words to create new insights. Her performance of Uncle Remus stories or other well-known tales uses volunteers from the audience to bring the story to life—sometimes in new and surprising ways. Josie’s much-loved American Idol Poetry Contest pits one group of audience members against another (sometimes students vs. teachers) to celebrate literature in an environment of fun. And her original slave stories and other historical tales often include original research, poems and songs that give a sense of immediacy to the past.

Josie can develop or customize stories to fit the customer’s specific program or a specific occasion, such as a holiday. Or the selection of stories may be left to Josie’s discretion to fit your audience and occasion. Selections can range from Folktales, Fables, Stories of historical characters and events or Personal Stories. Tone may range from serious to humorous.
